- Financial forecasts are aligned with delivery and sales reality
- Leaders understand the financial impact of operational decisions
- Risks to margin and cash are identified early, not after the fact
- This is NOT an accounting role and NOT a compliance role.
- It is a decision-support and governance role embedded in operations.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Forecasting & Planning
The FinOps owns forecast logic and insight, not sales targets.
- Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain rolling forecasts for:
- Reconcile:
- delivery plans (CDO / RMO)
- Identify forecast risks and assumptions early
- Deliverables:
- Rolling revenue & margin forecast
- Forecast vs actual variance analysis
Cost & Budget Governance
The FinOps ensures cost discipline without blocking execution.
- Responsibilities:
- Support annual and quarterly budgeting
- Track budget vs actual by
- Analyze variances and distinguish:
- timing vs structural issues
- Recommend corrective actions
- Deliverables:
- Budget vs actual dashboard
- Variance analysis reports
- Cost control recommendations
Delivery Economics & Margin Protection
The FinOps safeguards delivery profitability.

- Analyze project and account-level margins
- Identify margin leakage drivers:

Cash Flow & Working Capital Support
The FinOps supports cash predictability, not collections execution.

The FinOps acts as financial translator.

Financial Data Integrity & Alignment
The FinOps ensures one financial truth across engines.
- Responsibilities:
- Align definitions and numbers across:
- RevOps (bookings, pipeline)
- Delivery (cost, utilization)
- Flag inconsistencies and root causes
- Deliverables:
- Data reconciliation notes
- Definition alignment documents
Success Metrics
The role is measured on decision quality and predictability, not raw financial outcomes.

Required Capabilities & Experience
Must-have
- Strong financial analysis and modelling skills
- Experience in:
- FP & A
- business finance
- consulting or operations finance
- Ability to explain financial concept to non-finance leaders
- Comfort influencing without authority
Nice-to-have
- Experience in IT services / outsourcing
- Exposure to project-based revenue models
- Familiarity with utilization and margin mechanics
- Advanced Excel / BI tools experience
The FinOps does NOT
- Perform bookkeeping or accounting close
- Approve invoices or payments
- Own compliance or audit activities
- Set sales targets or delivery quotas
- Replace CFO or Finance Controller
